After significant research into the role that temperature control plays as a critical factor in sleep quality, Symbol Mattress is bringing to the Las Vegas Market a series of climate-controlled beds the producer says are “unlike anything else on the market.”
The new SleepFresh collection was designed in concert with Northville, Mich.-based Gentherm, a global developer of thermal management technologies across a variety of industries. The three SleepFresh models all incorporate an exclusive Climate Control Sleep System that heats, ventilates and cools. The top model allows for the most significant variations in sleep temperature.
“Comfort remains very important to consumers,” noted company president Mike McQuiston, “but our research with both retailers and consumers indicates that temperature control is the number one concern today. Apparently there are plenty of comfortable beds out there, but our sense is that temperature is not being properly addressed. Yet, we all know that managing sleep temperature is an integral part of sleeping well.”
The result of Symbol’s 16 months of research and development is the new SleepFresh line of sleep systems, which are zoned on each side of the bed. Climate control units located in the foundation effectively allow hot or cool air to be dispersed and diffused into each zone.
At $1,799, the nine-inch starting model includes two climate control zones, one on each side of the mattress. The 10-inch, $2,799 model has four zones, giving each sleeper two zones of temperature control. The 11-inch, $3,999 top-of-the-line bed also has four zones but is capable of delivering substantial variations in temperature between its heating and cooling functions.
SleepFresh mattresses offer three distinct feels, using varying layers of gel foams, visco foams, gel visco foams, PCM gel latex and air flow foams for healthy ventilation. The beds also feature high-density foam cores and use steel foundations.
According to Mark Jannke, vice president of product development, performance test results on the line “are superior to any other climate-controlled mattresses being sold today.” During the Las Vegas Market market, Symbol will perform demos using an infrared thermometer to capture the differences in surface temperatures of its SleepFresh beds before and after test subjects lie down.
Symbol has dressed the collection in a new category of fabrics called “AthLeisure (athletic-leisure), which includes fabrics similar to those used by popular brands like Under Armour. The fabrics are moisture wicking, highly breathable and non-quilted. Bright colors and textures add to the line’s overall modern, streamlined looks. The cover on the top model can be zipped off and washed.
Along with the new SleepFresh series, Symbol will also show its complete mattress collections in Las Vegas including the Unite, Symbol Signature, Symbol Preferred lines, and its new gen-u-ine beds.
