Pleasant Mattress To Debut Airflex Brand

Tapping into features that are most appealing to younger consumers, Pleasant Mattress, a leading independent mattress manufacturer, is preparing to launch the AirFlex brand, a four-model premiere line of dual-sided mattresses with a hand-crafted and natural story. Designed to work with foundations that are popular with the younger generations, the collection is compatible with platform bed bases, can sit atop box springs or pair with adjustable bases.

Inspired by a design originally developed by Edward McRoskey, founder of the San Francisco luxury brand, McRoskey—acquired by Pleasant Mattress in January 2019 —AirFlex takes the best of old-world mattress making and blends it with modern innovations to appeal to today’s consumers.

“The history of the AirFlex brand dates back to the 1920s, and while the heritage and the core tenets remain the hallmarks of our construction nearly a century later, it’s important to note that this is an entirely new collection, designed for today’s consumer,” said Rion Morgenstern, CEO of Pleasant Mattress. “Designed around the concept of understated luxury, AirFlex offers optimal support, cooling benefits and a durability story that is achieved through a combination of unique coil configurations, breathable materials and a mirrored mattress construction.”

Enveloped in breathable Supima cotton grown in California, the four models bear names like Borrego, Dunsmuir, Mendocino and Ojai, all uniquely California locations well known to inspire the ultimate in luxury, relaxation, rest and restoration.

Mattress Construction

With brass air vents applied by hand and soft, woven Supima cotton covers, the mattresses naturally breathe, keeping the user cool at night. Both sides of the mattress feature identical layers of support, and the double-sided design gives consumers the ability to revitalize the comfort by flipping the mattress and extend its life. These design details, combined with eight reinforced box-stitched handles, provide a boutique look and feel.

Priced to retail from $2,000 to $4,000 in queen, the four models offer several layers of comfort to create the perfect combination of support and a luxurious feel. Borrego, a luxury firm mattress includes 1,041 pocketed quantum coils and four inches of aerated Serene foam. Dunsmuir, a gentle-comfort mattress, has 2,706 pocketed SoftTech microcoils as well as four inches of Serene foam. Mendocino, which is available in both gentle and firm comfort levels, has 2,706 pocketed SoftTech microcoils along with five inches of all-natural Talalay latex. Ojai, also in both gentle and firm, has 660 pocketed coils and 3.5 inches of HD foam.
