Gold Bond Debuts Roll-Packed Innerspring Mattresses and New Futon Frame

Gold Bond is raising the bar for roll-packed mattresses with the new Westminster and Buckingham Collections, which incorporate the Leggett & Platt Quantum Edge and Bolsa Spring. These super premium bed-in-a-box programs will make their debut alongside the company’s new Charleston Futon Frame at the Spring High Point Market.

The Westminster and Buckingham Collections will feature the Quantum Edge steel perimeter that forms a base around the Bolsa unit, eliminating the need for foam encasement and creating a consistent sleep surface from edge to edge. Unlike foam-encased units, the Quantum Edge has the ability be compressed, folded, and rolled, which allows product to be shipped via UPS without a large-package upcharge.

“Innersprings combine the best of all bedding components and the growing interest from millennials in the online space inspired us to develop a product our customers can compress, fold and roll pack,” said Gold Bond President Robert Naboicheck. “There are plenty of specialty products rolled and packed, but we are excited to be the first company in the industry to develop a line featuring the Quantum Edge and Bolsa Spring unit.”

The collections also feature Bolsa and ComfortCore coils to provide consumers an innerspring mattress that is comfortable, supportive, durable and 100 percent American made. The Bolsa coils form the interior of bed and provide an even surface that absorbs partner movement and prevents sleepers from rolling together. The pre-compressed coils create a firm surface that makes the mattress more responsive to body movements. The ComfortCare coils feature stress-relieved wire that holds its shape and provides a consistent sleep surface. The wire flexes and conforms to the individual contours of the body for superior comfort and reduced partner disturbances.

“During compression and roll-packing, foam encasement tubs tend to separate from the innerspring unit, creating a number of problems that impact feel, quality and aesthetics,” said Jason Jewett, vice president of product development for the Leggett & Platt Bedding Group “Quantum Edge not only offers superior performance after being roll-packed, it eliminates the need for foam encasement tubs, freeing up time at manufacturers’ glue stations.”

Additionally, Gold Bond will unveil its new white Charleston Futon Frame at the spring market. Made from solid hardwood and featuring a fashionable white panel design, the Charleston Futon Frame reclines into three comfortable positions: upright, reclined and bed. With three support braces and four L brackets, the frame is constructed to be both comfortable and supportive.

“Futons have dramatically improved over the last several years, and as the accompanying frames and fabrics have become more decorative and durable, consumers [are] viewing a $300 or $400 futon package very favorably,” said Naboicheck. “We are seeing an increase in better quality futons because today’s consumer, even [when] sleeping on a futon, wants a better quality sleep experience on a better futon mattress.”
