Eclipse Shares Mask-Making Information
After announcing its own plans to produce up to 38,000 medical masks to donate to local hospitals and first responders, Eclipse International was so moved by calls from companies around the world wanting to help that it has created a five-minute video and a detailed manual that offers step-by-step instructions on making the masks.
In addition to mattress manufacturers, the company has fielded calls from manufacturers of other products across North America and as far away as the United Kingdom all looking for guidance and information on how to set up a similar system.
“It’s been great to see so many companies from all over the world step up and express interest in being part of helping fulfill the need for medical masks during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Stuart Carlitz, president and chief executive officer of Eclipse International. “In addition to speaking with executives from across North America, we’ve been contacted from companies in Ireland, the United Kingdom and in Haiti, all of whom are looking for a solution to be able to help. We’re happy to be able to share the detailed plans we designed along with the instructions for making the masks with anyone who wants to be proactive in helping our medical heroes.”
The video, which can be viewed here, showcases Eclipse’s team gathering the materials, cutting the pattern, sewing the masks and packaging them for distribution. The manual provides all of the specifications and materials used in making the masks.
Recently, Eclipse started producing face masks in its New Jersey factory for donation to area healthcare workers battling the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is still making the three-layer masks from materials used to make the its mattresses.
Publicity in USA Today and more than 150 Gannett newspapers and a segment on Fox Business News helped companies reach Eclipse to ask for assistance.
