Bedding manufacturers continue to incorporate new innerspring and coil technology into their mattresses. The latest, mini coils ranging from 1–2 inches in height offer added comfort and support. Often used as the top layer in the mattress, the smaller, microcoils reduce partner disturbance and create a more supportive sleep surface. The following three companies are using these smaller coils with great success in their sleep systems.
Gold Bond—The company’s innovative Sacro-Support mattress includes Leggett & Platt’s Softech Mini coil system. The mattress’ unique double-sided pillow top design has the 1.5 inch coils on both sides and adds a plush feel to its luxurious Duchess and Baroness mattresses.
Naturepedic—Available in its Ensemble, Concerto, and Symphony adult mattresses, the layers of spring-on-spring contraction allow for a top layer of smaller comfort coils. In addition, the coils are individually wrapped with organic cotton for multizone support. These smaller comfort coils add to the comfortable feel of the organic luxury mattresses.
Therapedic International—Unveiled in Las Vegas, the Agility Collection has a combination of micro-pocket coils and gel-infused memory foam for a more responsive sleep surface. The thousands of microcoils in each mattress in this hybrid offers sleepers a combination of the latest gel and foam materials with the supportive inner spring feel. The ultra mircocoils are manufactured by Hickory Springs’ U.K. partner, Spinks Springs. Low–profile innersprings are helping mattress makers differentiate their beds with customized feels.
