Symbol Mattress has appointed industry veteran Joe Harris to the newly created position of corporate key account director. In his new post, Harris will focus on developing relationships with national and major regional accounts across the country, reporting to Mike McQuiston, company executive vice president.
Before joining Symbol Mattress, Harris was a co-owner and general manager of Mattress Firm stores in the state of Wisconsin, establishing and growing the retailer’s presence from zero to nearly 40 stores in just under three years.
Harris previously served in a number of sales posts at Sealy from 1991 to 2010 including territory manager, senior key account manager, field sales manager and national accounts manager.
From 1981 to 1991, Harris worked for Grand Home Furnishings (formerly Grand Piano) based in Roanoke, VA. He worked his way up into sales and management posts at the family-owned chain, which is today one of the largest furniture store operations in the south.
