Simmons Bedding Company and Bedzzz Express Make an Impact
ComforPedic, the memory foam brand by Simmons Bedding Company, in partnership with Birmingham, Alabama retailer Bedzzz Express provided mattresses to those affected by tornadoes this past spring. To aid in the rebuilding process, for a community on the rebound, ComforPedic and Bedzzz Express donated free memory foam mattresses on October 11 at the Christian Services Mission.
Explaining their decision to get involved, president of Simmons specialty sleep divisions, Scott Smalling said, “Coinciding with our ‘ComforPedic Gives Back’ brand, providing mattresses to the Alabama community was automatic. Working with our retailer Bedzzz Express and the Christian Services Mission allowed us to do more then we have before.”
As the community begins the restoration process, a mattress is the first step to creating a comfortable, clean space within their homes. Keith Krininger, owner of Bedzzz Express elaborated, “A mattress is where you start. It is the first thing to come to mind and most important piece in making a living space comfortable.” Bedzzz Express, with 40 stores in Alabama including 19 in Birmingham alone, has also donated 3 truckloads of mattresses since the tornadoes hit. He added, “It is rewarding to see retailers spanning many industries come together to help the community and our consumers.”
ComforPedic’s memory foam mattresses provide the relief and comfort of a good, restful night’s sleep. As explained by Butch Webster vice president of Simmons specialty sleep, “People need rest and energy to face the next day. A good night’s sleep is crucial.”
ComforPedic provided 180 of their highest quality memory foam mattresses at events in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Packaged and rolled for easy transportation, families picked up their new mattresses; optimistic and ready to restore their homes. Helping at the event were members of the Bedzzz Express and Simmons teams as well as Extreme Home Makeover Edition designer, Ed Sanders.
In line with the ComforPedic roadshow and its respective “ComforPedic Gives Back” campaign, the manufacturer will donate the new Air Cool Sleep System mattresses to firehouses along its planned route. “The Firehouse Makeovers are a great way we can give back and help those individuals who put the community first.” Webster states, “We are providing first responders and firefighters with cool, comfortable sleep surfaces.”
As part of the national tour campaign, the showroom on wheels was on hand in Birmingham offering retailers a information on their latest products. Focusing primarily on the new Air Cool Sleep System mattresses, the mobile showroom showcases the mattresses, POP displays, and direction of the collection in a one-on-one setting. Smalling states, “The mobile showroom is a more intimate setting. We can elaborate further on products in the trailer, have better conversations with our retailers, and allow them to better examine our products.”
