Precision Textiles has received a unique certification for sustainability from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its line-up of FR solution products. The company’s family of IQ FIT Glass Free and IQ FIT Contour products, as well as its PurLoft and Endure product collection, were certified as bio-based products through the USDA’s BioPreferred Program, which assures consumers that products bearing this special certification contain a USDA-verified amount of renewable, sustainable biological ingredients.
“We are always striving to stay ahead of the sustainability curve to provide consumers with more natural, environmentally sensitive products. This certification is yet another step in our commitment to preserving the environment,” said Scott Tesser, CEO of Precision Textiles.
The USDA’s BioPreferred Program is an initiative that was created by the 2002 Farm Bill and recently reauthorized and expanded as part of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (2018 Farm Bill). The goal of the program is to increase the development, purchase and use of bio-based products, displacing the need for non-renewable, petroleum-based chemicals. This effort plays an increasingly important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions that exacerbate global climate change.
Precision Textile’s line-up of FR solution products – IQ Fit Glass Free, IQ FIT Contour, PurLoft, PurLoft NZ, Endure IFR 1, Endure IFR 2 and Endure IFR 3 – received the special certification because they contain a high percentage of bio-based content. Bio-based products are derived from raw materials such as plants and other renewable agricultural, marine and forestry materials.
“These products support consumer and retail trends and help deliver a more natural approach to a better night’s sleep,” Tesser said. “Our R&D team is working on a number of new products that will help us expand our BioPreferred offerings and provide more solutions for a better sleeping experience.”
“We applaud Precision Textiles for earning the USDA Certified Bio-based Product label,” said Vernell Thompson of the USDA BioPreferred Program. “Products from Precision Textiles are contributing to an ever-expanding marketplace that adds value to renewable agriculture commodities, creates jobs in rural communities and decreases our reliance on petroleum.”
