Malouf Foundation Raises $109,000+ At Annual Charity Golf Tournament
The Malouf Foundation recently announced that it raised over $109,000 at its third-annual Golf for Freedom tournament on Thursday, Aug. 20 at Birch Creek Golf Course in Smithfield. All proceeds will support child abuse survivors as well as the social workers and law enforcement assisting these children.
“We want to give a special shout-out to our sponsors, charity affiliates, volunteers, and everyone else who helped put this event together,” said Kacie Malouf, Malouf Foundation Chair. “The funds raised from the tournament will support our local Children’s Justice Center and other advocacy centers across the country. With adequate funding, these agencies can conduct interviews, perform medical exams, and provide emotional care for children who have been abused.”
Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes shared his gratitude to the Malouf Foundation for supporting child abuse survivors nationwide. He commented, “Utah has seen an increase in child abuse cases during the pandemic, and we’re seeing similar trends in other states. Cache County is fortunate to have a Children’s Justice Center, but still, our resources are limited. Plus, there are several communities that don’t have an advocacy center. The Malouf Foundation recognizes that, and they’re eager to make these resources accessible to more children.”
More than 30 teams participated in this year’s tournament, consisting of corporate partners, community sponsors and members of the public. “What I appreciate most about my interaction with the Malouf Foundation is their outward focus,” said attendee Russ Madsen. “It reiterates that true happiness comes from focusing on others in our home, at work, in our community, and throughout the entire world.”
The Malouf Foundation works with dozens of organizations to fulfill its flagship cause. For the past few months, the Foundation has collaborated with Safe House Project to create a brand-new OnWatch™ training, which is designed to empower people to spot, report, and prevent domestic sex trafficking. The new training is expected to launch this September.
