Malouf Home recently added Sierra Giles to its wellness team to expand the company’s approach to employee care. One of Giles’ first initiatives was to conduct a health assessment survey with employees across locations in Utah, California, Texas, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina. Based on this anonymous feedback, Giles and the rest of the wellness team determined three major areas of focus for the company’s health and wellness initiatives: physical activity, mental wellness and nutrition.
“As a company, we have always focused on lifestyle and wellness, and we reinforced that goal when we became a B Corp in 2019,” said Malouf CEO Sam Malouf. “We continue to prioritize employee health, and with the help of our wellness team, we took a closer look at employees’ needs and how we can address those directly in the workplace.” He continued, “As we keep growing, we want to make sure our employees are happy and healthy so we can continue to offer our signature customer service to retailers.”
Malouf couples its health assessment surveys with regular biometric screenings
In addition to an on-site fitness center at its headquarters, Malouf couples its health assessment surveys with regular biometric screenings so employees can make informed decisions about their physical activity and lifestyle. The wellness team hopes to provide this service at all company locations in the near future.
With the unexpected challenges of the pandemic, Malouf emphasized the importance of mental health in the workplace. Recently, the Malouf wellness team launched an internal campaign focused on stress management and reduction. For extra support, the company offers premium access to Impact Suite’s collection of digital wellness programs to every employee.
Nutrition is another key focus for the Malouf wellness team. They work with registered dietitian nutritionists to hold meal prep classes once a month at its headquarters. In the company’s break rooms, their team has also implemented hydration stations with infused fruit water and snack bars with nutrient-rich options.
