Las Vegas Market Welcomes FMG Bedding Summit

Las Vegas Market recently announced that it will host the first-ever FMG Bedding Summit—developed in conjunction with Furniture Marketing Group (FMG), the largest volume member-owned networking and buying group in the furniture industry—on Saturday, July 29, one day prior to opening of the Summer 2017 Las Vegas Market, at World Market Center Las Vegas.  

“Las Vegas Market is ‘THE’ national bedding market, with the top 15 producers represented, and we very pleased to extend our partnership with FMG to directly address the needs of bedding buyers and merchandise directors,” said Robert Maricich, chief executive officer of International Market Centers. “As the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States, Las Vegas Market is committed to extending partnership programs with leading industry associations like FMG.”

The FMG Bedding Summit will target bedding buyers who want to keep abreast of the fast-changing bedding landscape. The one-day program will be a combination of morning classroom sessions with panels addressing best practices, business issues and opportunities; afternoon showroom tours: and day-long networking opportunities. To date, some 40 FMG member bedding buyers and merchandise directors have registered for the Summit.

FMG executive director Mike Herschel explained that FMG selected Las Vegas Market as the location for the Bedding Summit because of its concentration of leading bedding suppliers. “After exploring different formats and venues for the event, including retail store visits, FMG decided to take advantage of the beautiful bedding showrooms and the expertise of all the top mattress suppliers assembled in Las Vegas during the Summer Market. The FMG Bedding Summit is designed to appeal to participants who are committed to updating and expanding their knowledge base in this important product category, as well as interested in networking and sharing expertise with their FMG peers.”

The FMG Bedding Summit is an extension of the FMG Annual Symposium, held each January in conjunction with the Winter Las Vegas Market, which attracts top executives—CEOs, presidents and vice presidents—of FMG member companies. FMG membership currently stands at 114 retail members, who represent more than 900 storefronts in the US, and Canada.  Sales volume at retail for the group is estimate to approach $4 billion.
