Highlights from Summer 2012 Las Vegas Market
Tens of thousands of home furnishings industry professionals from around the world attended the Las Vegas Summer Market held August 1-5 where dozens of mattress and bedding manufactures showed their latest products and innovations. World Market Center authorities reported a surge in attendance with buyers from 95 countries making the recent Las Vegas Market the strongest Summer Market in three consecutive years. Below are a number of the BEDROOM magazine team’s findings.
BedGear
With the company’s new expanded showroom and its focus on performance sleep, BedGear™ offers retailers bedding solutions to support their customers active lifestyles. Many of BedGear’s products include the company’s patented dri-tek® performance technology to wick away moisture
Blu Sleep
This Canadian based company has expanded its latex pillow line with the addition of its Fusion Gel pillows. These top of bed add-ons are made with a combination of latex, gel and phase changing materials.
Boyd Specialty Sleep
Committed to sleep accessories, Boyd Specialty Sleep’s new Luna Lux™ and Clima-Comfort pillows offer sleepers a variety of options to improve their sleep comfort and quality. The semi-circular shaped Luna Lux pillow, designed to provide ergonomic comfort for all sleepers, is made of MicroTec™ Gel memory foam, covered in an off-white velour fabric and is suitable for all sleepers. The Clima-Comfort pillow provides a cool service made of molded memory foam and a cooling sleep slide with solid gel layer at the surface.
Caber Sure Fit
Known throughout Canada, Caber Sure Fit introduced its protection products to the United States this market with their new DreamSerene™ and BedCare™ mattress and bedding protection products. With a variety of fabrics made of terry, bamboo, and eucalyptus the DreamSerene line up offers retailers many different options to reach many consumer preferences.
Classic Brands
With new colors and fresh ticking, Classic Brands has updated its popular Dormia® mattress collection offering retailers new, eye-catching memory foam and latex mattresses.
Comfort Revolution
Partnering with Sealy and led by long-time industry innovator, Michael Fux, Comfort Revolution has introduced to the marketplace colorful memory foam and gel pillows and toppers with creative eye-catching packaging. With its reuseable mattress shipping carton, the company offers retailers a consumer friendly product with added benefits for the shopper.
Comfort Solutions
Presenting a number of new models across its collections, Comfort Solutions continues to focus on improving the sleep experience for consumers and providing a number of product options for retailers. At the luxury price point, the Natural Response® beds are designed to deliver an ease of movement during sleep.
E.S. Kluft & Co.
As a result of the successful airegelle™ mattress collection debut earlier in 2012, E.S. Kluft & Co. expanded the collection with the introduction of the Aireloom Devereaux Hybrid. This new mattress features individually wrapped coils paired with Kluft’s gel infused foam, eliminating pressure-point pain by providing localized support. The distinctive Devereaux will feature a flat, non-quilted surface bringing the sleeper in closer contact with the gel to better experience its cooling benefits and supportive properties that conform to the body. Kluft also unveiled a 42” adjustable base ensuring that luxury retailers have the opportunity to add a split-adjustable base option on 7-by-7 Aireloom King sales.
Englander
Englander® unveiled an expanded E-gel™ mattress line, featuring the company’s exclusive CoolBlue Sleep Technology™, as well as an updated collection of Nature’s Finest® all-Latex mattresses. continues to expand their offerings. The egel latex, that includes a gel latex combination, while the nature’s finest collection is a memory foam and latex blend.
enso
Seeing success between markets enso has added the 10” Denali bed to their PureGel line as well as the 12” Trilogy bed with dual core toppers in an effort to help retailers maximize their show floor space and the introduction of their gel infused memory foam pillows.
Fabrictech
After challenging the industry on how we think, discuss and market protection products, the company’s expanded PureCare™ collection, which now includes a full pillow line, is rumored to be expanding further. We are looking forward to seeing what Fabrictech will unveil at future markets.
FXI/Anatomic Global
Expanding their current Ascent line, FXI®/Anatomic Global has added two new SKUs, the Adjustable Ascent 4 and Ascent 5, which include the new patent-pending technology that follows the contour of an adjustable bed frame, eliminating gaps between the mattress and the base.
Glideaway
Introducing a new gel pillow into the Sleepharmony pillow collection; the Blue Chill includes a fusion of gel and memory foam that combines temperature regulating benefits of a gel layer with the support of memory foam. Glideaway continues to see the accessories category as a growing profit area for retailers and views the expansion of their pillow collection as a way to help their clients sell more.
Kingsdown, Inc
Introducing a trio of new mattress collections designed to hit both luxury and value price points, Kingsdown looks to expand its reach in these markets. The new high-end line, Tradition® features conventional styling with wrapped coils and premier quality organic components. Next, the high-end and modern, Select® line incorporates high quality foam and the industry’s most innovative materials with all euro styling and the new Passions™ line offers famous Kingsdown quality with value pricing.
Leggett & Platt
Coinciding with market, Leggett & Platt® launched two new websites to support the growing adjustable bed base market. The first site, www.lpadjustablebases.com, is written for consumers and provides a variety of information including a detailer retailer while the second site offers a resource and tutorial portal for its retail partners.
Magniflex
Magniflex’s new, high-profile Memoform Snooze line features a temperature-regulating, quilted Outlast™ cover and Magniflex’s exclusive water-expanded memory foam, which results in a mattress with a plush, more luxurious-feel. Under the removable cover is the company’s popular Dual Core design, which allows a couple to fully customize their sleep experience for a softer or firmer feel. Available in 8-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch profiles, the sleek, contemporary design features a slate grey border and square patterned ticking, which can be dry-cleaned.
NaturaWorld
Now owned by Spring Air Sommex Corp. (SAS), is back and better than ever, ready to serve customers with great products and special offers. SAS debuted a number of new, or enhanced, NaturaWorld mattresses and introduced its ergonomically designed Obusforme sleep products to the US market. With a multi-year lease at the World Market Center, the permanent space in Las Vegas will serve as the US showroom during markets and will also support the sales team during off market times for customer presentations.
Naturepedic
Like Naturepedic’s very first crib mattress, their new Lullaby Earth baby crib mattress was designed to be free from harmful chemicals and allergens. Lullaby Earth mattresses are completely free of polyurethane foam (including “soybean” foam blends), vinyl/PVC, polyurethane coated nylon or damask, PFC water-resistant treatments, antibacterial biocides and the various chemicals associated with these materials. Fire protection is achieved with hydrated silica, a harmless natural mineral. The crib mattress have been tested by independent third-party laboratories and certified according to the GREENGUARD® Children & Schools Certification Program.

The guarantee lists its impressive list of raw material, factory process and finished mattress certifications and product testing.
Pure LatexBLISS
In the Pure LatexBLISS showroom, we saw firsthand how the company’s POP solutions have evolved making it easier for their retailers to implement a Pure LatexBLISS program within their stores. Marty Walker, former vice president of visual merchandising for Pier 1 Imports, was on hand to help retailers create the ideal showroom layout incorporating Pure LatexBLISS program, complete with the new POP display solutions.
Restonic
With their new “Show Us Your Marvelous Middle” Contest, Restonic continues to engage consumers as well as retailers in the market. This effort is apparent in their recent Consumer Digest award and second year as the Woman’s Choice Award that shows shoppers know, trust, and recommend the Restonic brand.
Reverie
One of the top adjustable base manufacturers in the United States, Reverie® has unveiled their new articulating bed frames that are now 30% lighter, saving on transportation costs while giving consumers the same range of motion with their bases.
Seahawk Designs
Seahawk Designs unveiled two new bed storage bases within its new Casual Elegance collection, at market. The two new additions—Manhattan and Newport—include interchangeable platform storage systems and upholstered headboards. The Manhattan with its contemporary design has a more modern appeal while the Newport features a more traditional design with a camelback upholstered headboard, bordered with high-dome upholstery nails in an antique brass finish.
Sealy
Adding to the successful Posturepedic Optimum™ mattress collection, Sealy® introduces a high priced, premium pillowtop mattress to the gel memory foam line. The new mattress retails for $3799 in queen and offers consumers a new comfort option.
Serta
Serta’s 2010 game-changing iComfort™ gel mattress introduction inspired the industry as well as the company. Since then, a variety of “I” technology has been unveiled included the new Trump Home ™ iSeries™ mattress collection. Updated withbeautiful new fabrics and the latest technology, Trump Home’ iSeries features Serta’s exclusive iSeries® technology combined with an advanced innerspring support system.
Simmons
Three new models within the 2012 Beautyrest Black® collection blend the technology of Simmons’ Recharge Sleep System with a firmer coil to deliver a broad range of comfort choices and a luxurious and decadent sleep experience. Nestled inside each Beautyrest Black mattress is Beautyrest® Independent Support™ Technology which combines alternating rows of Beautyrest Smart Response™ and Advanced Pocketed Coil™ springs to deliver a progressive level of personalized back support.
Sleep & Beyond
Sleep & Beyond continues to expand its product lines and offerings. Introducing a half inch fitted mattress protector that doubles as a topper made from wool, the company also unveiled a line of natural sheets as well as organic wool and washable tufted contour pillows.
Spring Air International
The new Back Supporter® Conforma® Gel and Back Supporter Cool Dots™ mattress collections unveiled at market includes a variety of point-of sales materials for retailers carrying the Spring Air line up. With captivating in-store materials that use an ice blue and white color palette the POP feature a polar bear wearing a Spring-Air branded “Cool Dots” necktie, drawing attention to the retailer’s showroom and the mattress collection.
Tempur-Pedic
Introducing two new mattresses at market, the TEMPUR-Cloud® Supreme Breeze and TEMPUR-Rhapsody™ Breeze the mattresses feature Tempur-Pedic’s new TEMPUR-Breeze™ technology. The technology produces an extra-cool feel for people who feel they sleep warm and optimizes the sleep climate.
Therapedic International
The company’s new Agility mattress collection combines innovative gel foam and thousands of microcoils for added cooling comfort and support. The four bed collection—the Dash, Tango, Freestyle, and Crossover—reach a range of price points and include a contemporary floral design in a vibrant orange-tangerine that draw attention to the mattress on the retail floor.
Wright Global Graphic Solutions
Expanding into their second space, Wright Global Graphic Solutions showcased their headboard point-of-purchase solutions and top-of-bed offerings within their new space in the SSA showroom. Highlighting cost-effective options to dress and protect merchandise, Don Wright, the company’s Chairman of the Board, said, “The SSA space offered us a stronger platform to showcase their line and separate the Wright Global Graphic Solutions divisions.”
