Gold Bond Breaks From High Point; Hosts Private, Regional Events Instead

Independent mattress manufacturer Gold Bond will host four private, regional shows for retailers to deliver more focused, intimate shopping experience. The move is in line with the company’s decision to close its long-held High Point showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center for the upcoming Fall High Point Market.

Gold Bond had been looking to upgrade and expand is showroom to incorporate a larger product lineup, but was unable to come to appropriate terms for a space.

“Our regional road shows offer the great opportunity to spend quality time with our retail partners in a quieter, less hurried setting,” said Robert Naboicheck, president of Gold Bond. “We have seen a significant decline in attendance by buyers at the market, and we believe our money will be better spent right now hosting our own regional events. We’re disappointed in the IHFC’s inability to work with us in light of the quiet hallways and dwindled presence of bedding manufacturers in the building.”

Gold Bond has already started reaching out to its customers regarding its road shows. During the next six months, the company will host its regional shows focused on its latest product innovations and new designs without the distractions of market. The shows will be held in the New Hampshire and Maine area; Upstate New York; New York/New Jersey; and in Charlotte, N.C.

Naboicheck said he is considering showroom space in High Point for the Spring Market in a higher-trafficked location.
