California-based luxury mattress maker, E. S. Kluft & Co. has received a registered trademark from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its unique plaid design used on the side border of select mattresses and mattress foundations. The elegant, cotton plaid upholstery-grade fabric has received much acclaim since being featured in the border design of Kluft’s Madeline Collection.
“This trademark border style is just one more way we’re separating ourselves from the competition. Use of rare and beautiful designer fabrics is almost unheard of in the bedding industry,” said President and CEO Earl Kluft. “We chose to import this particular fabric from Portugal because it was so unique and beautiful. We want our bedding to both feel luxurious and look stunning. Incorporating the plaid fabric’s soft hues, in either blue or beige, into the border design of The Madeline Collection demands the kind of attention to detail and workmanship that only Kluft can provide. The 54-inch upholstery looms are narrower than standard 90-inch jacquard weaving, so the fabric cannot be woven on any current mattress ticking looms and then must be hand cut, specially quilted, and sewn.

Madeline Collection mattresses feature the unparalleled quality of hand-stitched side panels, roll edging and inner tufting.
