Dormeo Octaspring to Open Manufacturing Facility in Virginia
Dormeo Octaspring® continues its expansion in the United States, announcing it will open a new North American manufacturing facility in Winchester, Virginia. The new 38,000-square-foot facility will bring 20 new jobs to the area and help Dormeo Octaspring more efficiently serve its retailers on the eastern seaboard and in eastern Canada. It will also represent the first time the company’s unique foam “coil” is manufactured in the United States.
The company has invested more than $1 million dollars in equipment to retrofit the new facility to be able to produce the innovative Octaspring coil. Dormeo Octaspring has historically only manufactured its Octaspring coil in Belgium, but due to the rapid expansion into North America, the company decided it was time to begin production in the United States. The company’s mattresses, foundations and pillows will also be manufactured on site.
The plant will be supplying product to more than half of the company’s retail doors, and will double its manufacturing capabilities in the United States.
The new facility will be run by Michael Carter, director of manufacturing who recently joined the company. Carter is an experienced sleep products industry executive, having worked 15 years with other leading brands.
“As we grow our business in the United States, we’re continually working to streamline our processes. That’s why we’ve selected Virginia to establish our second manufacturing site. It’s centrally located on the east coast, easily allowing us to efficiently service our customers all the way from Canada to Florida, while cutting down on delivery times and freight costs,” said Dormeo Octaspring Chief Operating Officer Jon Stowe. “Bringing production of the Octaspring coil takes our efforts one step further and with the opening of this plant we can now say our products are ‘Made in America.’ We know this adds value to our brand in North America and will serve as a selling point as we continue to expand.”
