Bedgear Ramps up Domestic Production and Hires Veteran Production Executives
bedgear™ is consolidating four separate facilities into a state-of-the-art manufacturing and warehousing operation in Rock Hill, South Carolina and a west coast warehousing and distribution hub in Los Angeles, California. By hiring veteran production executives and making a major investment in new custom machinery designed specifically for the manufacture of its unique product line, the company seeks to better serve its retail partners in meeting the rapidly growing demand for its products.
“The capabilities we are putting in place today will allow us to triple production in 2013 and minimize the time from production line to store, while assuring consistent adherence to our high quality standards,” said bedgear™ VP Strategic Development Shana Rocheleau. “We’ve also put in place the logistics and manufacturing talent to ensure success.”
Recently appointed as bedgear™ Director of Operations, Tony Mirabella brings more than 15 years experience in managing supply chains and demand planning, and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. The company also just named long-time bedding industry manufacturing veteran Rick McCain as Director of Manufacturing. Previously serving as Senior Product Manager for Perfect Fit Industries, a leading maker of bedding products for Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Macy’s and other leading retailers, McCain brings 30 years expertise in production management, product development, and quality control and holds numerous patents for textile design.
“We’ve already consolidated our 4 separate warehouse facilities into just two massive distribution hubs, one on the east coast and one on the west coast, for improved controls and efficiency. And now we’re dramatically ramping up manufacturing capacity so that we can rapidly meet retailer demand with shorter lead times,” said Tony Mirabella, Director of Operations.
Manufactured from breathable and moisture-wicking textiles typically used for high-performance sports apparel, bedgear™ products are designed to provide temperature regulation and minimize bacteria and other contaminants to provide a healthier night’s sleep. bedgear™ pillows are also personalized for back sleepers, side sleepers and stomach sleepers to assure proper spine alignment.
Said bedgear™ Founder and CEO Eugene Alletto, “With all the increased awareness of the importance of sleep, demand for our products continues to grow, and we’re committed and investing to continue to innovate and grow to help more people take their sleep to a higher level.”
