For the bedding world, this is the season of the bustling Winter Las Vegas Market— which is sure to be ripe with major collection rollouts and products intros. This year it seems that many manufacturers are resolving to help their retail partners succeed by simplifying and expanding their collections, unveiling refreshing new looks and feels.

Our cover story turns the spotlight on PureCare, a unique accessories manufacturer that is experiencing a great amount of growth and success. With its comprehensive “Wellness Package”, eye-catching marketing and its brand new Elements sheet collection, PureCare has curated an innovative portfolio that truly stands out and changes the conversation around health and wellness bedding.

Following a widely-read New York Times article published this fall, there has been a growing conversation around the “sea of white” that consumers encounter when shopping for mattresses. With that in mind, this issue’s Q&A Feature is focused on mattress ticking and cover materials—taking a closer look at the different ways Stearns & Foster, Kingsdown and Therapedic make sure their beds stand out on the retail floor.

Our Features From the Editors highlights a number of bedding companies that are creating products across a variety of different categories. These “full sleep systems”, which include mattresses, pillows, bases and protectors manufactured under one brand name work to simplify the sales process. With this comprehensive approach, companies like Tempur-Pedic, Serta, Reverie, Zedbed and Simmons help ensure a more comfortable night sleep for consumers—and higher margins for retailers.

Simmons has taken this comprehensive approach a step further by unveiling its a number of updated collections under the Beautyrest brand—creating unified, logical step-up program that heightens brand recognition and allows RSAs to more easily upsell on the retail floor.

But that’s only the beginning!

In this issue, we’ve covered a number of new mattresses and accessories debuting at market, including a number of products that feature innovative new materials. CleanRest’s new pillow collection is made with the company’s environmentally-friendly WayBetter Foam, while Gotcha Covered has incorporated tencel into its popular LUXE sheet collection. Latex International is introducing the first-of-its-kind TalaGel component, which combines the cooling properties of gel with the unique benefits of Talalay latex.

Other companies have made notable portfolio expansions and updates, filling in gaps in price and features to broaden the consumer reach. Glideaway’s expanded FlexStyle adjustable bases offers a wide range of benefits at different price points, while both Naturepedic and Dormeo have introduced entry-level mattresses for retailers looking to target the younger demographic.

Manufacturers like Boyd Specialty Sleep and Therapedic International are helping their retail partners attract new customers by leveraging the existing brand-recognition of popular furniture and lifestyle companies. With an exciting new mattress line-up under the well-known Tommy Bahama Home brand, Therapedic is making it easier for retailers to catch consumers’ attention.

We continue to see many manufacturers working closely with their retail partners to create unique sleep solutions. OMI is introducing its new Naturals collection, is the result of its first “Retailer Council.”
