Precision Textiles ‘SlumberShield’ Offers Medical Barrier
Precision Textiles, a leading supplier of coated fabrics, nonwovens and laminations for the bedding, automotive, health care and home furnishings industries, has shifted its mattress encasement focus to the health care industry. Its six-sided, fully enclosed encasement gives health care facilities a level 4 barrier option for use on treatment beds. Level 4 classification is the most protective level for textiles used in health care facilities.
Part of its SlumberShield brand, the medical-grade encasements provide protection from bacteria, allergens, viruses and fluid while providing a comfortable sleep environment that extends the lifespan of the mattress.
“This is a time of national emergency, and we wanted to develop a solution for hospitals to provide sterile beds for the influx of patients,” said Scott Tesser, chief executive officer of Precision Textiles. “Having the expertise in coated fabrics, it’s important that we take our knowledge of textiles and the health care system to create a safe, comfortable place for patients to recover. We as a nation are facing incredibly difficult times, but we must come together and focus all of our efforts to helping those in need and flattening the curve.”
SlumberShield features several health benefits including protection against dust mites, allergens, mold, bed bugs and bacteria. The Breathe-a-Barrier allows for air exchange while still maintaining a fluid-proof protective layer, and a three-sided zipper for easy installation and removal. The luxurious and soft fabric is machine washable and reusable to provide a sterile bed environment.
The company recently donated enough medical-grade encasements to meet the needs of 500-bed Englewood Hospital in Englewood, New Jersey, which is located in an area of the state most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
