Malouf Reveals New AR Feature

Malouf recently added an augmented reality feature on that allows customers to interact with Malouf furniture pieces and visualize the products in their homes. Developed in-house from start to finish, this new feature is available for the Blackwell, Eastman, Scoresby and Watson beds and is compatible with iOS devices only.

“We’re excited to introduce this advanced feature on our website—and it’s going to keep growing from here,” said Eric Holmstead, national sales manager for Malouf. “As we expand our furniture line and step into other product categories, we hope to increase our augmented reality capabilities, so we can continue to support consumers in their purchasing decisions.”

When building the augmented reality feature, Malouf’s team of 3D digital artists created detailed renderings for each piece of furniture. Once completed, the renderings were handed over to the company’s award-winning software engineering team to be developed and customized for the website.

“Augmented reality is a great way to preview the scale and overall look of a furniture piece,” said Riley Brown, lead 3D digital artist for Malouf™. “Furniture is traditionally difficult to picture before making a purchase.  However, we're creating tools to close the gap between what customers think these products might look like, and what they actually look like in real space.”
