Malouf reported a record number of showroom visitors at the recent Winter Las Vegas Market. The company is crediting its success to the new products released at the show, especially its Tencel sheet set, which played a large role in its showroom display.
Leading a growing trend of soft, sustainable fibers from eco-friendly resources, the Tencel sheets offer a smooth hand and moisture management qualities. Brought about through its nanofibril structure, Tencel channels moisture away from the body making it temperature neutral and 70 percent more absorbent than cotton. While bamboo has traditionally been the poster child for natural fibers, Tencel sets a new standard in ecological production. As a botanical fiber, it is derived from raw material wood in an award-winning closed loop process.
“Tencel represents a new trend in textiles that utilizes natural resources for a high level of comfort,” said Mike Douglas, general manager at Malouf. “With the success of our bamboo sheets, we’re expecting the Tencel sheets to leave an impression in our product family due to its soft, eco-friendly properties. In addition, it’s a perfect bundle with our Tencel mattress protector and pillow covers.”
Retailers were particularly interested in Malouf’s Tencel sheets thanks to a very affordable price. Combined with the company's existing bed protector and pillow covers that feature Tencel, the new sheets allow retailers an opportunity to make a complete Tencel-themed sell.
“We are very excited to start working with Malouf and anticipate our customers will be excited about the new Tencel sheets,” said Michelle Caragol, the owner of Steamboat, Colo.-based home design store, Moxie Design. “Within the next few years I think everyday customers will start asking for Tencel.”
Malouf also extended the range of its Z pillow line with two new pillows unveiled at market. The Shredded Gel Dough pillow is filled with clusters of shredded, gel-infused memory foam, surrounded by a half inch layer of gel-infused memory foam to keep a consistent feel while maintaining the pillow’s ability to be shaped or molded.
Its first venture into down, Malouf debuted the Cotton Encased Down Blend pillow at the market. It features a plush down and feather blend fill to create a consistent, breathable loft. Encasing the pillow is a soft, thick layer of cotton filling to eliminate the feeling of sharp quills.
Malouf rounded out its market introductions with the debut of the Highrise LTH. Like Malouf’s other Highrise bed frames, it replaces the box spring and provides a stable foundation for all mattress materials. The Highrise LTH features 60 cubic feet of storage space, enough for a standard size tote to fit underneath.
