Mattress manufacturer Eclipse International has signed a licensing agreement with Iskeceli Kanepe Ltd. of Istanbul, Turkey, to produce and distribute Eclipse products in Turkey and the United Kingdom.
Family-owned Iskeceli was founded 35 years ago by Hikmet Ciplak, who is the company’s president and CEO.
“Iskeceli is an excellent addition to our licensing group. The Ciplak family brings the same entrepreneurial spirit that is found throughout the Eclipse organization, and the company is completely aligned with our approach to business,” said Stuart Carlitz, chief executive officer of Eclipse International. “It’s a great fit for Eclipse.”
The new licensee operates from an 86,000-square-foot factory, where it produces mattresses and a wide variety of innerspring units under the Comfy Springs brand name. The company is the largest producer of pocketed springs in Turkey, and it currently exports innersprings throughout Europe.
“We have been exporting springs to the U.K. for many years, so it’s a natural extension of our business to ship mattresses there,” Ciplak said. “We are looking to expand our international business, especially at the high end of the market, and this licensing agreement gives us an incredible opportunity to accomplish this.”
In addition to Ciplak, the senior management team includes Turker Ciplak, who oversees sales efforts, and Alpert Ocak, who heads production.
