Pure LatexBliss Asks, “Does Sex Still Sell?”

An article in the May 2012 issue of Barron’s magazine, suggests that Americans are sacrificing sex for a good night’s sleep. But Atlanta-based Pure LatexBLISS reports retailers tell a different story – sex is still an important part of the mattress purchase decision. It’s not unusual for RSAs to learn more about their customers than they ever wanted to know. In addition to discovering if they prefer their mattress plush or firm, consumers may ask about the pros and cons of sex on different sleep surfaces while readily confessing intimate secrets about their sex lives – stories they likely wouldn’t ever share with their friends or family!

Pure LatexBLISS is hoping they’ll share their stories with them!

Kicking off its “Customer Confidential: Confessions from the Bedroom” contest, a new social media competition taking place entirely on Facebook, Pure LatexBLISS’s contest asks RSAs to post the most awkward, humorous, and outrageous stories about sex and sleep surfaced from customers.

“A couple’s mattress can make or break their sex life. Our experience shows that RSAs hear the best and worst stories of how a bed has failed a couple,” said Pure LatexBLISS president Kurt Ling. “It is one thing for us to say latex mattresses lift consumers while other components allow them to sink during sex and to explain the science behind those technologies; it is quite another thing for retail sales associates to tell us what they know. It is much more colorful.”

Pure LatexBLISS also anticipates that this contest will help address the industry’s very own Coke v. Pepsi Challenge – which mattress is better for sex?

“The industry buzz around the Barron’s article intrigued us so much we decided to dig into this topic on our own and have some fun with it. At the end of the day, mattresses can be great for two things; sleep and sex. The world deserves a forum to understand the differences between one mattress and another with regard to sex. We think retail sales associate stories can make a difference,” said Ling.

The call for entries runs now through July 20th on the “Pure LatexBLISS” Facebook page. The winners will be announced at the upcoming Las Vegas Furniture Market on July 31st at Pure LatexBLISS’ new showroom. The grand prize winner will be awarded a Pure LatexBLISS mattress. The second and third place winners will receive a Pure LatexBLISS mattress CustomFIT PillowTop and set of latex pillows, respectively.
