OMI Reports Increase in Retailer Base Following Vegas Market

Organic Mattresses, Inc. (OMI) has seen a 20 percent increase in its retailer store base after a successful Summer Las Vegas Market. This number comes shortly after 95 percent of the company’s existing retailers expanded their OrganicPedic product offerings.

The company believes the spike in buyers interested in organic offerings comes from the breadth of American consumers seeking out products within the organic category. According to OrganicPedic, while California continues to be a ground swell in retailer geography as a result of Prop 65 warnings (the initiative that requires businesses to notify Californians about significant amounts of chemicals in the products they purchase), the rest of the nation is beginning to take note of mattresses with fewer chemicals that don’t produce toxic off gassings in them as well.

“We saw a very high volume of buyers in Vegas – above and beyond expectations – and we were pleasantly surprised with the number of retailers adding the organic category to their floors to differentiate themselves from big boxes and merchandising legitimate organic mattresses at premium price points. These retailers told us that their customers, who are shopping for the health of themselves and their children, are increasingly inquiring about the organic category,” said OrganicPedic Chief Executive Officer Kurt Ling. “In the past, the organic mattress space has been seen as purely catering to the chemically sensitive, but it is clear that the category offers a unique product at retail that appeals to multiple consumer groups in one of most quickly emerging trends in America. We are a well-positioned brand in the industry to grow this trend and we are confident that more specialty stores and independent retailers will continue to add the organic category and OrganicPedic mattresses and accessories to their stores.”

The COM collection is OMI’s most successful launch in its history, offering a suite of products that include and expanded line of toppers and pillows. The company’s Organic Demographic Study, new members of its senior management team and other new marketing initiatives, have all contributed to the recent increase in sales.
