Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company, one of the nation’s largest integrated manufacturers and an international supplier of components for the furniture and bedding industries, announced that it has hired Vijay Nadgir as its Corporate Director of Foam Research & Development—Customer Development.
At Hickory Springs, Mr. Nadgir‘s direct responsibilities will be coordinating the foam division’s Research & Development efforts with the needs of its customers. He will also be directly involved in troubleshooting foam-related problems, working directly with customers and their quality control staffs. He joins a dedicated team of researchers that introduced the foam industry to PIPA polyol technology, melamine fire retardant, acetone as an auxiliary blowing agent and, more recently, the world’s first bio-based foams including a new bio-viscoelastic foam.
“Hickory Springs has always been a forerunner in the development of new types of polyurethane foam,” said Bobby Bush, Senior Vice-President of Foam and Environmental Technology of Hickory Springs. “With his distinguished Research & Development expertise, we look forward to seeing how Vijay will help lead Hickory Springs’ foam division to new heights of innovation, diversification and customer satisfaction.”
Mr. Nadgir brings to Hickory Springs an extensive background in polyurethane foam with over 18 years of experience. Most recently, he spent the past six years with Invista in Wilmington, NC, where he supervised a lab with a Research & Development staff of 10 people and provided tech service for customers around the world. Previously he spent 12 years with ER Carpenter in Richmond, VA, where he began work as a research associate in 1994, then rose to Chemicals Division Manager by the time he left the company in 2006.
